Boris Schatz Three Piece Bronze Framed Plaque - Item/Description: Boris Schatz (1866-1932) Bronze Reliefs Framed Wall Plaque. Series of three plaques: The Repentant; Rabbinical Blessing; and When Will the Miracles End. Masterfully carved images of rabbinic figures in contemplative poses of prayer. Two of the three bear the artist's name in Hebrew script. Mounted on red velvet with gilt wood matte and encased in decorative painted antiqued gilt wood frame. Schatz was a Lithuanian born Jewish artist and sculptor who emigrated to Israel, founded the Bezalel School of Art in Jerusalem and became known as the ”Father of Israeli Art.” These bronze plaques were cast in the 1960s under the supervision of Schatz's wife from the original molds created by the artist.
