Boris Schatz Silver Plaque Framed Judaica Art - Item/Description: Boris Schatz (1866-1932) Silver Relief Wall Plaque. Masterfully carved relief of somber men praying. Titled, in Hebrew ”Who will have pity on you, Jerusalem? Who will mourn for you? Who will stop to ask how you are?”(Jeremiah 15:5). No visible signature or hallmark. Mounted and matted in a maroon lacquer paper over wood frame. Schatz was a Lithuanian born Jewish artist and sculptor who emigrated to Israel, founded the Bezalel School of Art in Jerusalem and became known as the ”Father of Israeli Art.” Material: Sterling Silver, Wood. Dimensions: Frame 9 1/2”L x 8”W. Plaque 4”L x 2”W. Condition: Plaque in excellent condition. Patina to silver. Frame: Good condition; bottom segment coming off of wood. Hanging hardware intact.
