Boris Schatz Bronze ”Chatzot” Midnight Plaque - Item/Description: Boris Schatz ”Chatzot” Bronze Relief Wall Plaque Framed Judaica Art. Masterfully carved image of a man wrapped in a prayer shawl beseeching the Heavens. Titled ”Chatzot” referring to the Jewish prayer recited at Midnight as an expression of mourning and lamentation over the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. Biblical quote under the image, possibly from Jeremiah. Red velvet mount, gilt wood matte, and decorative painted black/ gilt wood frame. Schatz was a Lithuanian born Jewish artist and sculptor who emigrated to Israel, founded the Bezalel School of Art in Jerusalem and became known as the ”Father of Israeli Art.” Material: Bronze.
