Harrison Bros. & Howson English Sterling Carving Set - Item/Description: Ornate, Victorian English Sterling Silver pierced work fork and knife fish carving/serving set by Harrison Brothers & Howson, premier silversmiths of Sheffield, England. Five-pronged fork, ornately engraved on both sides. Matching curved fish knife. Etched fisherman on one side. Blank cartouche ready for a monogram on reverse. Hallmarked on both pieces: Crown/ Lion Passant / T / Monarch in profile / H.H. corresponding to the year 1886. Harrison Brothers & Howson was founded in 1847 by James William Harrison, Henry Harrison and James William Howson, as successors to Thomas Sansom silversmiths of Sheffield. By 1900 Harrison Bros & Howson had become one of the largest silversmiths in Sheffield, and were bestowed the distinction as cutlers to Her Majesty, Queen Victoria.
