19th C. Gilt Bronze Inkwell Boat Serpent Handles - Item/Description: Rare, antique gilt bronze double inwell mounted to footed oval tray. Double serpent handles. Lion's paw feet. Egyptian motif. Ornate. Unmarked. Believed to be European. Material: Bronze. Dimensions: Length: 13”; Width: 6 1/2”; Height: 6”. Condition: Good. Displays well. Hinge detached from one well, cup lifts out, missing glass insert. Twin inkwell with intact lid; inner chamber soldered in place, glass insert intact and is not removable. Heavy use and surface wear, areas of oxidation, soldering. Gilt bronze finish worn off of top, but visible on inner aspects and underside of tray/boat. Age: 19th Century.
