Austrian Orientalist Cold Painted Harem Scene - Item/Description: Austrian cold painted Orientalist sculpture depicts a Middle Eastern harem scene. In the style of works by Franz Bergman. A couple in period clothing engaged in an intimate conversation in an open air tent. Remnants of paint visible on the rug. Both figures are riveted to the base of the sculpture and loosely move from side to side. Stamped on underside: AUSTRIA. (Nude, risque) Material: Bronzed, painted metal. Dimensions: Length: 5 1/2”; Height: 6”; Depth: 3”. Condition: Good. Heavy surface and age wear, warm patina. The hole in the side of the sculpture may have held a curtain rod. Age: Circa 1940s.
