Antique Salmson Figural Bronze as Candelabra Lamp - Item/Description: Ornate 19th Century bronze figural lamp features a beautiful woman in Neoclassical dress, looking downward, a dagger in her hand. She is mounted on a fours sided marble pedestal with bronze panels depicting characters in Neoclassical dress; possibly from a play or story. Ornate base decorated with vines and standing on lions paws. Side of base signed: SALMSON. Jean Jules Bernard Salmson (1823- 1902) was a French artist and sculptor. We believe this piece was originally a sculpture or part of a garniture, and later converted into a five branched electric candelabra. Rolling switch. Two-prong plug. Material: Bronze, Marble/ Onyx. Dimensions: 40”H x 7”W base. Condition: Good - Very Good. Sculpture itself with wonderful dark patina, surface wear. Candelabra portion appears off center. Surface wear including scratches, patina to bronze. Candelabra in working order, all bulbs illuminate. Plug secure without fraying. Age: 19th Century. Provenance: Private Estate.
