African Congo Style Masks Grouping of Four - Item/Description: Lot of four decorative masks from Africa, Congo region. Includes: - Democratic Republic of Congo style painted mask in hues of red, black and brown. Carved stripes and linear design. Painting and design style is similar to works by Tetela tribe. The Tetela people (or Batetela in the plural) are a Bantu ethnic group of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Decorative mask. Material: Hand carved wood, pigment Dimensions: Length: 11 1/2”; Width: 6 1/2”; Depth: 3 1/2” Condition: Chipping to lips; linear crack under left eye; abraded area to nose tip - Dramatic, hand carved mask exhibiting Chokwe and Kuba characteristics. Elongated face, prominent features with domed forehead, carvings in forehead and across cheeks. Decorative African mask. Material: Wood, paint Dimensions: Length:14 1/4”; Width: 7 1/4”; Depth: 6” Condition: Areas of paint loss, abrasions to wood, hole under lower lip. - African style decorative Congo mask. Heart shaped, deeply hand carved, pronounced features, hair headdress, pursed lips, pierced ears.
