Dan Style Mask Group - Liberia, Ivory Coast - Item/Description: Lot of four decorative African masks. Includes: - Liberian Dan style Guere Bugle (War Mask). Bugle masks, designed to frighten and causes unrest and disorder within the community to provoke a reaction. It is believed that the bugle mask was worn to prepare the village for war. Elongated mask features protruding jaw with carved wood teeth. Hammered metal strip accents. Includes some chipping and scratches. - Dan style carved mask adorned with hand-hammered metal strip decoration to bridge of nose, bolted. Triangular eye sockets.
