Antique ”Indian Lodge” Hand Painted Wood Sign - Item/Description: Original wood plank sign with a painted portrait of a Native American Chief in full headdress. Below reads: Indian Lodge / Sawyer Mich. The circular shapes that can be seen running vertically along the sign, appear to be indentations in the wood where a washer and bolt used to rest. The sign was originally fastened to a wall or post using the bolt and washer. (Michigan Advertising signage, Bar, Hotel, Art) Material: Painted wood, metal hanging chain Dimensions: Image size: Height: 44”; Width: 40”. Unframed. Condition: Signs of age and wear including craquelure to paint. Some surface scratching, chipping and bowing to wood. Oxidation to metal chain. Age: 1920s-1930s Provenance: Private Estate. Purchased by former owners father in Sawyer Michigan approximately 70 years ago.
