Antique Civil War Era Photograph Album 4 NYHA - Item/Description: Antique 19th Century Civil War wooden album book. Decorated on front and back covers with inlaid marquetry panels of crossed cannons. Contains seven wood pages with cutout sections holding 28 portrait photocards of adults, couples and children (descendants of the album's owner) as well as images of public figures, dignitaries and members of the military including George Washington and Major General G.B. Mc Clellan. The cards consist of tin types, colorized and sepia photo cards. On reverse of many of the cards are the name stamps of the New York based photographers of the day. Engraved plates on spine read: Album 4 NYHA > C: Wood, photo paper, nails. Dimensions: Length: 8”; Width: 6”; Depth: 1 3/4” Condition: All 28 photocard are overall in good- very good condition. Heavy use and age wear to album itself. Cover separated from binding. Breaks to individual picture frames, nails exposed, broken off pieces of wood.
