Mata Ortiz Mexican Pottery Signed Artists Vase Lot - Item/Description: Three piece lot of Mata Ortiz pottery ceramic vases. Hand-crafted Mexican art pottery done in the style of ancient pottery of the region. Bulb shaped, hand painted in earth tones, terracotta hues with geometric designs. Southwestern folk art. Two of three are signed by artist ( taller vase unsigned). Signatures on bases include: Monuel Corona, Javier Corona. Material: Painted ceramic, rubber Dimensions: Height: 4 3/4” - 5 1/2” (range); Width: approximately 7” Condition: Good. Free of cracks or chips. Surface use and age wear include paint loss, scuffs, scratches, shelf wear; adhesive pads to bases, one missing. Age: C. 1970 Provenance: Private Estate Mata Ortiz pottery is a recreation of the Mogollon pottery found in and around the archeological site of Casas Grandes (Paquim) in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.
