Chinese Hardwood Wedding Dowry Chest - Item/Description: Dowry Wedding Chest with fretwork and carved panels, brass accents and side handles. Black lacquered front panel features painted and gilt figural scene. The top section where the carrying pole would go is topped by foo dogs / fu lions - one is loose. The front of the piece is removable - the compartment was for the brides clothing and treasures.
