Gabon - African Bakota Reliquary - Item/Description: Kota Tribe Reliquary Figure. African sculpture features carved wood with a brass and copper overlay. Base is covered in a burlap fabric. The Bakota, also Kota, people of Congo and Gabon guardian, called Mbulu Ngulu. The figures are carved of wood and covered with intricately woven strips of copper, brass or bronze.
