Marianne Hornbuckle - Nude Watercolor, Tin Nichas - Item/Description: Tin frame (Nichas) features folding stained glass doors that open to reveal a watercolor painting after Correggio's 'Jupiter and Antiope'. Both frame and painting are signed by the artist, Marianne Hornbuckle. Signed lower left to painting and to back of frame (etched). Nichas (Feminine of nichos, a shrine designed to hold objects of reverence) designed and constructed by the artist. Loosely based on a famous painting of the nude, the painting and its 'frame' offer many levels of interpretation: a twist on the traditional male-oriented approach to the unclothed female form. After Correggio's 'Jupiter and Antiope', Depicts Antiope in her innocent sensuality, dreaming of Jupiter. Glass candles holders on each side.
