Antique Trinket Dish Compact Lot - Item/Description: Antique three piece dresser lot consists of two antique trinket boxes and one ladies compact. The Sterling Silver box has a repousse puffed lid with rosette design. Fits snugly over bottom piece. Hallmarked: Sterling Material: Sterling Silver Dimensions: Length: 2”; Width: 2”; Height: 1 1/4” approximately 17.8 grams Condition: Free of dents, damage. Top fits snugly onto lid. Signs of age, use and surface wear including scratches, tarnish. The six sided hexagonal trinket box has a gilt metal body. The sides are embellished with mother of pearl panels. The glass covered lid holds a hand-painted portrait on shell of an Eighteenth Century woman in period dress. Soft pastel colors. Artist signed lower right. Dimensions: Length: 3 1/2”; Width: 2 1/8”; Height: 3/4” Free of dents, damage to body of box. Hinged lid opens smoothly and closes securely. Signs of age, use and surface wear include glue residue at edges of panels, scratches, scuffs. The portrait has fading and areas of paint loss and craquelure. Age: Late 18th - Early 19th Century The compact has a blue resin cover and bottom to mimic enamel. The sides are gilt metal and embossed with a floral motif, rococo style. The lid is adorned with two applied gilt metal painted kissing love birds face to face perched on a branch. The hinged compact opens to reveal a mirror and a powder puff, with screen and remnants of face powder. Unsigned. Dimensions: Length: 1 3/4”; Width: 1 3/4”; Height 1/2” Condition: Good. Lid opens smoothly, clicks shut crisply. Signs of surface age and use wear including scuffs, scratches to bottom, paint wear to birds, patina.
