Konstantin Szewczenko -Two Rabbis Oil Painting
Item/Description: Exceptional original oil painting of two rabbis conversing, dressed in traditional Chasidic garb by Ukrainian - Polish artist, Konstanty Szewczenko (1910 - 1991). Known for genre scenes and portraits. Masterful attention to detail. Image has a three dimensional lifelike quality. Artist signed lower left: K. Szewczenko. Ornate painted gilt wood frame, hanging hardware. (Judaica, Rabbinical figures, Semitic series, Jewish artists)
Konstantin Szewczenko was born in 1910 in Warsaw. He studied in the studio of Felicjan Kowarski and Tadeusz Pruszkowski at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1928-32. Szewczenko was the creator of the set design at the Rozmaitosci Theater in 1934-35. He also collaborated with publishing houses in Lviv, and published his own illustrations in "Kurier Poranny". He has exhibited widely at home and abroad. His works are in the collection of the Polish Army Museum.Material: Oil on canvas, wood
