Federal Style Inlaid Mahogany Converted Square Piano Console Table - FOR PICK UP OR TRANSPORT ONLY, WILL NOT SHIP A Federal style console table or hunt board constructed from a repurposed late 18th or early 19th-century square piano case. The primary structure is mahogany featuring extensive marquetry and stringing in satinwood and other light-colored wood veneers. The long, narrow rectangular top includes a central inset panel. The front frieze is decorated with an elaborate neoclassical marquetry inlay depicting a central urn flanked by scrolling acanthus leaves and floral motifs. The piece is supported by four square tapered legs ending in block feet, accented by decorative collars and corner brackets. The back of the unit has been modified for placement against a wall, finished in a dark stain with exposed secondary wood bracing, likely pine or poplar. A small metal latch remnant is visible on the upper back edge. There are no maker marks, signatures, or labels visible on the exterior or the modified interior surfaces.
