Bidspirit auction | Victorian Turquoise Blue Opaline Glass

Victorian Turquoise Blue Opaline Glass Mantle Luster with Cut Prisms - A Victorian-style mantle luster crafted from opaque turquoise blue glass, often referred to as Bristol glass. The piece features a cased construction with a vibrant blue exterior and a milky white interior lining. The vessel is designed with a crenelated or scalloped top rim above a central bulbous section decorated with hand-painted enamel floral swags in red, white, and green. These floral elements are framed by gilded scrollwork and horizontal bands. The glass body transitions into a flared, hollow pedestal stem and a circular stepped base. Suspended from the central flange by metal wire connectors is a double row of clear glass prisms. Each prism assembly consists of an octagonal faceted button linked to an elongated, serrated spearpoint drop with a faceted tip. The interior view shows a hollow center typical of hand-blown production from the late 19th century. No maker's marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the exterior or interior surfaces of the glass.Height: 12.5 inchesDiameter at widest point: 5.5 inches.
