Bidspirit auction | Two American Goofus Glass Plates

Two American Goofus Glass Plates in Rose and Dahlia Patterns - This lot consists of two antique American pressed glass plates, specifically categorized as Goofus glass, which is characterized by its unfired, cold-painted decoration. Both plates are crafted from clear press-molded glass and feature a distinctive saw-tooth or serrated rim. The decoration is applied to the reverse side of the glass using gold and red paint, creating a vibrant, multi-toned appearance on the front. The first plate features a rose pattern, consisting of large cabbage roses with scrolled stems and foliage arranged in a circular motif around a central rose medallion. The second plate, identified as the dahlia pattern, displays alternating panels of stylized floral blooms resembling dahlias or mums and scrolled shell palmette motifs. A central floral medallion serves as the focal point of this design. Neither plate bears maker marks, signatures, or factory labels on the base or body.Diameter: 10.75 inches (measured across the dahlia pattern plate).
