French Model 1892 Double Action Service Revolver Manufactured by St. Etienne - A French military service revolver, Model 1892, produced at the Manufacture d Armes de Saint-Etienne. This double-action firearm is chambered for 8mm Lebel and features a solid-frame construction with a swing-out cylinder that uniquely hinges to the right. The 4.5-inch barrel is octagonal at the breech transitioning to a round profile. The frame and barrel retain a blued finish, and the grip consists of two checkered walnut panels secured by a single screw through the center. On the right side of the frame, a script engraving reads Mre d Armes / St Etienne. Below the cylinder on the frame, a stamped serial number reads F 40885. The top flat of the barrel is engraved Mle 1892, while the right side of the barrel is stamped S 1894. Two small circular proof marks are visible on the right side of the barrel containing the letters M and B. An additional stamped serial number F 40885 is visible on the cylinder.
