John-Richard Fine Furniture Fall-Front Burl Wood Secretary Desk - FOR PICK UP OR TRANSPORT ONLY, WILL NOT SHIP A traditional revival style fall-front secretary desk, also known as a butler's desk, featuring decorative burl wood veneers arranged in a repeating vertical oyster-veneer pattern. The rectangular top is finished with cross-banded borders and a molded edge. The upper section is configured as a false three-drawer front that hinges downward to reveal a desk interior. The interior contains six arched pigeonhole cubbies, four small drawers with brass pull knobs, and a central cupboard door decorated with a book-matched burl pattern and a dark wood diamond-shaped inlay. The cupboard is flanked by two carved faux columns. The writing surface is inset with a green leather pad divided by two wood bands. The lower case is constructed with two full-width drawers. The exterior is fitted with six large brass ring pulls featuring foliate backplates, and a single escutcheon is centered on the top false drawer. The entire piece is supported on four large turned bun feet. The side panels are finished in a uniform dark wood stain.
