Large Bronze Bust of Alexander the Great on Yellow Marble Socle Base - This large bronze bust depicts Alexander the Great, presented in a classical Neoclassical style. The figure features a characteristic profusion of thick, deeply modeled curls, a straight nose, and wide-set eyes with defined lids and blank pupils. The subject is draped in a tunic that gathers at the neckline and is fastened at the left shoulder with a circular, spiral-decorated fibula. The bronze is finished with a dark brown, near-black chemical patina that has been rubbed to reveal warmer metallic highlights on the raised portions of the hair and drapery folds. The sculpture is mounted onto a separate, turned socle base crafted from variegated yellow-gold marble featuring intricate brecciated patterns and darker brown veining. The underside of the marble base is fitted with a protective felt pad.
