European School Still Life of Flowers in a Gilded and Ebonized Frame - A still life painting executed in oil on canvas, depicting a floral arrangement in a dark glass vessel. The composition features a central cluster of white and pink roses, a prominent orange lily, and smaller blue and yellow blossoms, set against a dark, atmospheric background. The work is rendered with soft, blended brushwork and a traditional use of chiaroscuro. The painting is housed in a heavy, ornate, multi-tiered frame with an inner gilded cove and an outer ebonized section featuring elaborate gilded foliate ornaments at the corners and centers. The verso reveals the canvas is mounted on a modern wooden stretcher, which is secured into the larger, older wooden frame with metal offset clips. The back of the outer wooden frame bears handwritten pencil marks reading 200 and 151. A single black character resembling a chevron or the letter A is present on the top member of the stretcher.Frame Height: 16.25 inchesFrame Width: 14.75 inches.
