Italian Baroque Style Bombe Fruitwood Chest of Four Drawers - FOR PICK UP OR TRANSPORT ONLY, WILL NOT SHIP A four-drawer commode designed in the Italian Baroque style featuring a bombe or swelled profile to the front and sides. The chest is constructed from a warm-toned fruitwood, such as walnut or cherry, with secondary wood drawer sides of a lighter-toned hardwood. The shaped top features a carved gadrooned edge. The case is divided into four long drawers, each with a serpentine face following the undulation of the case. A carved rope-twist molding separates the top drawer from the lower tier. The piece is supported on four short cabriole-style legs with acanthus leaf carvings ending in scroll feet. The drawers are fitted with circular cast-metal pulls with a rosette motif and central vertical keyholes with simple metal escutcheons. The drawer construction indicates mid-to-late 20th-century manufacture, with the drawer sides lacking traditional hand-cut dovetails. The back of the case is a single flat panel finished in black stain and secured with modern screws. The exterior features intentional antiqued distressing including simulated wormholes and fly-specking throughout the finish.Width: 44 1/2 inchesDepth: 20 1/2 inchesHeight: 36 1/2 inches.
