Vintage French Provincial Style Serpentine Parquetry Three Drawer Chest - FOR PICK UP OR TRANSPORT ONLY, WILL NOT SHIP A vintage three drawer chest of drawers in the French Provincial style, featuring a serpentine bombe-front profile. The chest is constructed with walnut or fruitwood veneers arranged in a decorative diamond or trellis parquetry pattern across the front, top, and sides. The top follows the serpentine shape of the drawers and is finished with a molded edge. The piece stands on four turned bun feet. The drawers are fitted with nine pieces of cast metal hardware in a dark finish: six bail handles with foliate backplates and three decorative center escutcheons featuring a shell motif. The drawer sides are constructed from a light-colored wood with a stained finish and utilize a butt joint construction secured with small fasteners rather than traditional dovetails. The back panel is a stained plywood or secondary wood. The rear of the chest bears several handwritten markings in a light-colored medium, including the characters T - 165 - 058, F200 - 058, and GPPP 16. These markings appear to be factory production or inventory codes and do not form a legible maker name or signature.
