Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Patinated Cast

A Pair of Patinated Cast Metal Neoclassical Putti Spill Holders - This lot comprises a pair of patinated cast metal figural spill holders, each depicting a putto or cherub. The figures are modeled in a dynamic walking pose, leaning forward as they carry woven-style wire baskets on their backs. These baskets are secured by thick, rope-like straps that wrap around the figures' shoulders and are held behind their backs. Each putto is depicted with curly hair and wearing a simple loincloth. The figures are mounted onto integral, square, tiered plinth bases. The metal has a dark, near-black patinated finish throughout. The underside of one base features a rough, circular area of exposed reddish-brown material at the center, likely a remnant from the casting process; no maker's marks, signatures, or country-of-origin stamps are visible on either piece.Base: 2.5 x 2.5 inchesHeight: 7.5 inches.
