A Pair of Kinder-Harris Porcelain Fish Scale Pattern Candlesticks Dated 1989 - A pair of porcelain candlesticks, each designed with a flared square pedestal base rising to a slender, slightly waisted body and terminating in a flared candle cup with a gilded rim. The exterior surfaces feature a white glaze with an all-over raised, pebble-like relief texture. Decorative hand-painted elements include a black-and-white fish scale or ”sixty” pattern on the cups and the shoulders, the latter of which is further accented by a scalloped foliate-style border in black and gold. Gold gilding is applied to the upper rims and the lower edges of the square bases. The underside of the base features several marks. Centrally, a red printed maker mark reads KINDER-HARRIS followed by a copyright symbol and the year 1989. Above this is a red printed warning in four lines reading NOT FOR FOOD USE - ARTICLE MAY POISON FOOD - FOR DECORATIVE PURPOSES ONLY. A circular red stamp containing the number 27 is also present. Several hand-written alphanumeric characters in black ink are visible on the underside, including d007, 8+16, and K178 88.Height: 9 1/8 inchesBase Width: 3 3/4 inches.
