The spools feature a variety of thread colors, including shades of green, blue, red, pink, yellow, orange, white, black, and grey. Visible labels on the spool ends include a circular white and blue label reading COATS & CLARK'S BOILFAST, a circular label for J. & P. COATS, a pink and white label reading TALON, a red and white circular label reading STAR TWIST MERCERIZED COTTON from the American Thread Co., and a blue and white label reading IVORY BRAND. The storage jar is constructed of blue-green tinted glass and features a zinc screw-on lid. The front of the jar is embossed with a circular seal containing the arched text THE CROWN above the straight text MASON.
