American Studio Pottery Pedestal Vase with Baltimore Oriole Decoration Dated 1979 - A large American studio pottery or hobbyist-ware pedestal vase constructed from heavy ceramic with a speckled oatmeal glaze finish. The vessel features a flared rim above a bulbous body that tapers significantly to a wide, tiered pedestal base. The body and base are decorated with molded relief motifs, including scrolls and stylized leaf patterns. Centered on the front of the body is a transfer-printed image of a Baltimore Oriole perched on a flowering branch. The underside of the base features hand-incised characters that are applied directly into the clay body.
