Antique Two Quart Hand Crank Glass Jar Butter Churn with Wooden Dasher - This antique household butter churn features a square clear glass jar with a two-quart capacity. The jar is topped with a heavy cast iron and sheet metal lid assembly housing a hand-cranked gear mechanism. The internal four-blade wooden paddle, or dasher, is connected to the gear system by a metal rod. The crank handle is finished with a turned wooden grip for operation. The glass jar is molded with vertical corners and contains numerous small air bubbles, or seeds, characteristic of late 19th to early 20th-century glass manufacturing. The front of the jar features a large, clear embossed inscription reading 2 Q T. The base of the jar has a circular mark present, though the characters within the circle are worn and not legible as a specific name or word.Height: 11.5 inches to the top of the cast iron frame.Width: 4.25 inches across the base of the jar.Handle reach: 8 inches from the center of the lid.
