Bidspirit auction | A Trio of Antique Cyclone
A Trio of Antique Cyclone and Pine Knot Hand Brace Drills - A trio of antique hand-crank brace drills featuring steel frames and turned wooden components. The collection includes tools of varying mechanical complexity. One drill is equipped with a ratcheting mechanism and an adjustable chuck, featuring a black-finished wooden center grip and a matching top pad. The remaining two drills are of standard non-ratcheting construction with natural-finish wooden grips. The steel sweeps on two of the tools bear impressed marks identifying the manufacturers. One drill features the impressed word CYCLONE in uppercase serif characters on the sweep arm. A second drill bears the impressed words PINE KNOT in uppercase serif characters on the sweep arm. The metal components exhibit a dark, naturally oxidized patina consistent with age and utility. The wooden pads and grips are secured with metal hardware and show traditional turned shaping. The longest drill measures approximately 14 inches in overall length.
