Two Blue Grass Wooden Levels with Brass Hardware - A pair of antique carpenter levels constructed from a dense wood, possibly mahogany or rosewood, with decorative and functional brass components. Both tools are equipped with three spirit vials each: a central horizontal vial and two vertical plumb vials set within circular brass housings. Each level features brass-protected ends and a top-mounted brass cover plate protecting the central vial. One level is finished in a dark stain, while the other shows a lighter natural wood tone. The brass cover plate on the darker level is stamped with the words BLUEGRASS and EXTRA in a curved arrangement, followed by a patent date PAT. 12-20-04, and the manufacturer name B. H. & M. CO. LOUISVILLE. The lighter-toned level features an oval-shaped brass plate with a circular trademark containing the text BLUE GRASS, BELKNAP, LOUISVILLE, and TRADE MARK, also featuring the date PAT. 12-20-04. The sides of the levels have circular brass plates on each face for the plumb vials. Length: 30 inches.
