A Collection of Vintage American Steel Pocket Tape Measures Including Stanley and Keuffel and Esser - A collection of six vintage pocket tape measures, featuring primarily chrome-plated or brushed steel casings with industrial mid-century designs. The assortment includes a variety of American-made models with specific markings. One unit features an adhesive label in a recessed oval reading Amsco 6 FT. GIANT MADE IN U.S.A. A second unit, featuring a rounded top, is marked with a circular graphic reading STANLEY No. 1208W 8 FEET and MADE IN U.S.A. across the center. A third unit features a black face with a yellow rectangular bar reading STANLEY and white text below reading NO. A06W 6 FT. A fourth unit, characterized by a stepped rectangular profile and horizontal ribbing, bears a red and white rectangular label reading K+E WYTEFACE LST LEVEL SQUARE TAPE 10 FT. PAT. 7407 PEND KEUFFEL & ESSER CO. with the K+E logo embossed on the reverse. A fifth unit features a blue and silver label reading ATLANTIC WHITE TAPE 6 FT. S65W ATLANTIC IND. CORP. NEWARK, N.J. and includes the embossed instruction ADD 2 INCHES FOR INSIDE MEASURE on the lower casing. The final unit is a small, square tape measure with a missing faceplate, showing an exposed metal surface with significant oxidation and a central screw. Most units include MADE IN U.S.A. marks impressed into the reverse of the steel casings. Based on the included ruler, the tape measures range in width from approximately 1.25 inches to 2 inches (photo 5).
