A Collection of Vintage Blue Grass and Belknap Torpedo and Carpenter Levels - An assortment of vintage levels featuring varying construction materials including cast aluminum, red-finished wood, and plastic. Several tools in the collection bear the marks of Blue Grass and Belknap. One cast aluminum level features a blue-painted recessed center with an embossed mark reading BLUE GRASS and MADE IN U.S.A. (photo 7). A similar aluminum level is incised T5 BG 7-9 on a central plate, which also displays the Blue Grass name and Belknap Inc. (photo 4). A brass-finished aluminum torpedo level is stamped NO. BG7-9 IN. and BELKNAP LOUISVILLE, KY. on the top rail (photo 5), with the side embossed TORPEDO LEVEL. The collection includes a red plastic level featuring a circular logo reading BELKNAP TORPEDO accompanied by a stylized projectile graphic (photo 6). The largest item is a red-painted wooden carpenter's level that serves as a promotional tool, printed in black text with HILLTOP BAIT & HARDWARE 1727 W. GALBRAITH RD. N. COLLEGE HILL PHONE JA-1-6060 (photo 3). The reverse side of the wooden level features a printed ruler scale (photo 8). Handwritten markings in black ink reading 364 are present on one of the aluminum levels (photo 7). The red-painted wooden level measures approximately 12 inches in length. The torpedo levels measure approximately 9 inches in length.
