An Assortment of Vintage and Antique Metal Shears and Scissors - A collection of vintage and antique metal scissors, shears, and utility snips of various forms and functions. The group includes professional tailor's shears with offset black-enameled handles, utility kitchen shears featuring integrated bottle openers and serrated bone-crushing edges, and various smaller household and embroidery scissors. The pieces are primarily constructed from forged steel and cast iron. Several items bear legible markings including one pair of shears stamped ITALY and FORGED STEEL, another marked MADE IN U.S.A., and one pair of small scissors stamped W.H. MORLEY & SONS. One pair of large tailoring shears features an impressed mark showing a name that is not clearly legible. The collection displays a range of finishes including black enamel, red coating, and bare metal. A long pair of tailoring shears measures approximately 15 inches from the handle to the tip (photo 6).
