Belknap Galvanized One Gallon Gasoline Can with Lithographed Label - A one-gallon galvanized steel gasoline can manufactured by the Belknap Hardware & Mfg. Company. The vessel features a seamless drawn dome-shaped body finished in orange-red paint over galvanized steel. It is equipped with a wire bail handle fitted with a turned wooden grip, a central threaded fill port with a faceted metal cap, and a smaller threaded pouring spout with a matching cap. The front of the can displays a rectangular yellow and red lithographed paper label. The label features two bell-shaped logos flanking the word KNAP and primary text reading Belknap in a stylized script. Further text on the label reads: GALVANIZED GASOLINE CAN / NO TOP SEAM / Seamless Drawn Dome Shape Body / NO SIDE SEAM / NO. 1126-B01G / 1 GALLON CAPACITY / MADE FROM HEAVY 26 GAUGE GALVANIZED STEEL / BELKNAP HARDWARE & MFG. COMPANY / LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY. The underside of the can is unmarked galvanized steel. The base of the can measures approximately 9 1/4 inches in diameter (photo 5). The height is approximately 9 1/8 inches to the top of the wooden handle when extended (photo 6).
