Two Blue Grass Belknap Inc. Steel 5 Gallon Kerosene Cans - Two vintage cylindrical steel kerosene containers with rounded shoulders, wire bail handles, and top screw-cap openings. Both cans feature blue finishes and various printed labeling. The first can, finished in a darker blue, is an American-made steel container. It features a large white graphic block with blue text reading KEROSENE and a blue logo of a heart within a cross labeled Blue Grass. Additional text identifies it as having a CAPACITY 5 1/4 GALLONS 19.87 LITERS and MODEL NO. BG-5K. A lower section of text provides safety warnings and identifies the manufacturer as Belknap, Inc., Louisville, KY. The second can is a galvanized steel container finished in a lighter blue-gray. It bears a white rectangular label with the Blue Grass HARDWARE logo and KEROSENE CAN text. This label includes instructional illustrations of a kerosene lantern, stove, and heater, along with the text MODEL BG KES 5, Capacity: 5 U.S. Gal., 18.9 Liters, and Made in U.S.A. by Belknap, Inc., Louisville, KY 40202. Both containers retain their original top handles and screw caps.
