Vintage Belknap Blue Ribbon Compressed Air Sprayer - A mid-20th century industrial compressed air sprayer manufactured by Belknap Hardware & Mfg. Co. The cylindrical tank is constructed of gold-painted metal and features a top-mounted pump assembly with a black T-shaped handle. A flexible, reinforced hose connects the tank to a trigger-actuated wand assembly consisting of a black plastic grip, a galvanized metal lever, and a long brass spray wand terminating in an adjustable nozzle. A large, rectangular paper label is adhered to the front, featuring a red, white, and blue graphic design. The label reads Belknap’s in cursive script above a blue banner containing the words BLUE RIBBON in white block letters. Below this, the words COMPRESSED AIR SPRAYER are printed in large, stylized red and black type. A lower blue section of the label identifies the manufacturer as BELKNAP INC. ESTABLISHED 1840 - LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY. The reverse of the tank is embossed with a horizontal fill line and the words FILL TO HERE in capital letters. A metal bracket for mounting a shoulder strap or handle is attached to the side of the tank. The tank stands approximately 12.5 inches tall to the top rim and measures approximately 15.5 inches in total height to the top of the pump handle.
