Barton 1980 Textured Composite Sculpture of an Adult and Child Reading - A cast composite sculpture with a light beige, textured surface. The piece depicts a male adult and a small child in an embrace while reading an open book. The adult, seen from the chest up, has a mustache and textured hair, his head tilted down toward the book. The child sits beside the adult, with one arm wrapped around the adult's neck, also looking down at the book. The sculpture features a rough, tactile finish that mimics thick brushwork or modeled clay. It is mounted on an integral rectangular base. On the reverse of the base, there are impressed marks reading ”© 80 BARTON”. 11.5 x 8 x 6.5 inches.
