The exterior is decorated with a shaded matte ground transitioning from dark brown at the shoulder to a light cream at the base. The central decoration consists of large hand-painted blossoms, likely wild roses, in tones of white and pale yellow with pink accents and green foliage. The handles, flared rim, and foot ring are finished with heavy gold gilding. A raised, beaded molded border details the rim and the foot ring. The underside of the base features a blue underglaze mark with the words Hand Painted arranged in an arch over a central laurel wreath surrounding the letter M, with the word NIPPON below.
