American Classical Mahogany Work Table - Origin: American Period/Style: Classical Materials: Carved mahogany and mahogany veneer with metal keyhole escutcheons Form: Two-drawer drop-leaf work table on a turned pedestal and four carved legs Description: American Classical mahogany work table with a rectangular top and two hinged drop leaves above a pair of ogee-front drawers. Feather-carved pilasters frame the drawer fronts, which retain small metal keyhole escutcheons. The case rests on a turned pedestal composed of stacked baluster sections and ring moldings. Four outward-curving legs have deeply carved acanthus leaves and terminate in hairy paw feet. Dovetail joints are visible at the drawer corners. The finished back displays figured mahogany beneath the top. Marks: Later restoration label: Restored By / Victor Lia / Refinishers / Brecksville, Ohio. Dimensions: 28 in. H, 18 in. W, 18 in. D, closed; 36 in. W with leaves raised.
