8 Chippendale Mahogany & Gilt Dining Chairs - Date: 20th century Period/Style: Chippendale Revival Materials: Mahogany, gilt decoration and patterned upholstery Form: Set of eight dining chairs: two armchairs and six side chairs Description: Set of eight Chippendale Revival mahogany dining chairs, comprising two armchairs and six side chairs. Shaped crest rails are centered by gilt shell motifs above pierced, scrolling ribbon-form splats and molded seat rails. Gilt shells repeat at the knees of the cabriole front legs, which terminate in carved scroll feet; the rear legs are gently swept. The armchairs have outswept arms with rolled terminals and curved supports. Shaped seats are upholstered in gold-and-burgundy floral-patterned fabric. Dimensions: 42 in. H, 26 in. W, 17 in. D; seat height 20.5 in.
