Pair Monumental Bronze Urns on Swan Bases - Date: Probably 20th century Period/Style: Renaissance Revival taste Materials: Patinated cast bronze Form: Pair of monumental urns on figural pedestals Description: Monumental pair of patinated bronze urns in the European Renaissance Revival taste, each with a flared molded rim and tall scrolling handles above a richly ornamented ovoid body. Classical masks, large radiating rosettes, foliate scrolls and lobed borders animate the vessels. Each urn rises on a sculptural pedestal formed by clustered swans with elongated necks and textured plumage, above an acanthus-decorated spreading support and stepped polygonal base. Brown patination with contrasting lighter highlights emphasizes the extensive relief decoration. Dimensions: Each: 71 in. H, 27 in. W, 23 in. D.
