The gilt composition and wood frame is modeled with a continuous pierced border of scrolling acanthus foliage and rocaille forms. A broad convex inner molding and narrow beaded liner surround the oval mirror plate. The reverse retains a brown paperboard or paper covering with multiple metal braces and later hanging hardware. The regular molded ornament and extensively altered back do not establish a firm 19th-century date. Marks: No maker's mark or label observed. Dimensions: 47.5 in. H x 25 in. W x 1.5 in.
