Materials: Reverse-painted molded glass, silver-plated metal, brass, and electrical fittings Form: Pair of candle-form boudoir lamps Description: A composed pair combining molded puffy glass shades attributed to Pairpoint with Apollo Silver Co. quadruple-plated candlestick bases. Each reverse-painted shade is decorated with poppies, chrysanthemums, and other garden flowers in red, pink, purple, blue, and green, with an amber fluted neck. The shades are attributed from their molded form, interior-painted decoration, and July 9, 1907 patent inscription, a marking documented on period Pairpoint puffy boudoir lamps. The Apollo bases are separately identified by their factory stamps. Dimensions: Each 18 in. H, 7 in. diameter Marks: Each shade impressed PATENTED JULY 9 1907 along the lower rim. Base underside stamped Apollo Silver Co. around a fleur-de-lis device, Quadruple Plate, with a partly legible patent notation and pattern number 879. Condition: The shades have small fitter-rim chips and abrasions, scattered surface scratches, and minor wear to the reverse-painted decoration. The silver-plated bases show extensive plate loss, oxidation, darkening, and scratches. One foot has a long linear crack or separation extending inward from the edge. Sockets and candle sleeves are present, no wiring present.
