The removable bowl has a deeply ruffled and vertically ribbed rim with a rose-pink interior and frosted white exterior. The interior is hand painted with sprays of white blossoms, green leaves, gilt tendrils, and a beaded circular border. The silverplate frame has paired elongated openwork handles issuing from twisted stems, a relief-decorated floral and foliate collar, and a stepped circular base raised on four ornamented feet. Condition: The glass bowl exhibits scattered rubbing and losses to the hand-painted and gilt decoration, including wear near the center of the well. No obvious chips or cracks are visible. The silverplate frame exhibits tarnish, oxidation, surface scratches, polishing wear, and localized plate loss. The bowl and frame appear to fit together properly.
