Benjamin Berell Ferencz (born March 11, 1920) is an American Jewish jurist. During his time in the United States Army, Ferencz investigated post-World War II Nazi war crimes and was the chief prosecutor in the Einsatzgruppen trial, which was one of 12 other military trials held as part of the additional Nuremberg trials. At the trial all 24 defendants were convicted; 14 of them received the death penalty, of which four were executed. Franz later became one of the ardent and vocal supporters of the application of the principle of the rule of law around the world and the establishment of the International Criminal Court. From 1985 to 1996, he was a visiting professor of international law at Pace University in New York. Today He is currently over 100 years old.
