May 8 is the official date on which the bloody war in human history ended. On this day, Nazi Germany signed the final surrender treaty. In the three speeches in the pamphlet, British leaders express alongside the great sense of victory, the deep anxiety and sense of mission that stood with the Allies during the war years, that the war was waged for the whole free world over all the sacred values of liberty and democracy, and against the tyranny that threatened to collapse the whole world. "For more than five long years, the heart and mind, the nerve and the muscle were all devoted to overthrowing the Nazi dictatorship."
Churchill's first speech deals mainly with threats against Nazi Germany, lest violate the surrender agreement signed that day. The second, five days later, is already a long and stately state speech, saturated with a triumphant atmosphere glorifying British patriotism, and the failure of the dictatorial axis states.
