Classic: Binyamin Ze’ev Responsa, Venice 1539. First Edition. With Handwritten Glosses by The Author. An Impressive Copy.
A complete copy of Sefer Binyamin Ze’ev, written by R. Binyamin b. Matisyahu. Printed at Daniel Bomberg’s press during the author’s lifetime.
This copy includes leaves 165-7 which are lacking in some copies. Interestingly, no censorship is seen on these leaves, although they heavily censored in some copies.
In this copy we are privy to several handwritten glosses added by the author after its publication. These glossed found only in several copies of this work. There are approximately seven corrections, the last one being an extensive marginal gloss.
For further reading, see:
Mavo LiSefer Binyamin Ze’ev, Jerusalem 1989. Binayahu maintains without doubt that these corrections were made by the author himself, as the all handwritten glosses found in such copies are identical.
In very good condition. Few worm holes seen at times. Printed on crisp, white paper. Ancient ownership inscriptions seen on title page. Bound in a new leather binding.
Vinograd, Venice 167.
